Viral Video You Wish You’d Thought Of But Now You Can’t Do Because It Would Just Be Copying
How many times to you hear me harp about getting videos up on your facebook, websites, blogs, newsletters, etc??? Your customers are SIXTY-THREE PERCENT more likely to watch a short video of you then read ANY text on a newsletter or website. (Disclaimer: that percent can increase at any given point if I feel the need to make a stronger emphasis.) When I remind you guys to pull out your cameras and get them rolling, you begin to sweat, stutter and curl up in the fetal position. But it REALLY isn’t that complicated. Be creative….Be yourself…Have fun with it.
Exibit A. Meet the Harvard Baseball team on a roadtrip making a goofy video to pass time on a road trip. Five days later they had 2 million hits. After 10 days they had over 7 million hits, were on the Today Show, Time, and MLB.com. To be fair, approximately 375,472 hits (give or take a few) were from my daughter and I looking at the hotties and dancing along.
Once the team saw how popular the video was getting, they immediately posted a link in their YouTube page to the team’s charity, an organization called Friends of Jacyln. There is no official word on how much money the charity has raised because of this video. However at the time of this newsletter’s publication that charity has received exposure to over 8 MILLION people.
